post count Anonymous 14647

Can we get a number somewhere on the page besides the thread watcher that shows how many replies the thread you're in has and what page it's on, like 4chan has (might only be on 4chan X).

Would be really helpful.

You can see how many posts a large thread has by loading the view-last-50-posts page and seeing how many posts it says are omitted (and then add 50 to that).
What reason do you want to know the post count of a thread? Most people who ask for that are trying to solve some other issue like trying to figure out when a thread is about to reach its post or bump limit, but we have a pretty high post limit and only a soft bump limit.

Being able to see what page a thread is on from the inside of the thread sounds useful.
I'd rather not add more things in overlays (like the thread auto-update countdown in the bottom-right -- which I'm planning to move). Have any suggestions?

The way 4chan does it is pretty unobtrusive in terms of the post/image count, and the closer our functionality matches and in some cases exceeds theirs the more comfortable people will be. It doesnt exaclty take up much space to say '143 posts/78 images [3]'
( 3 being page number) in the bottom corner or wherever.

For that matter the catalog link is extremely small and only in one place at the bottom of the page and can be easily missed by a newcomer

Yeah that's basically what I meant.

4chan X does it in the bottom left corner of the page.

I don't know, I'm just used to having that on 4chan I guess...

While we're talking about adding 4Chan technology here, could you create a system that adds a random code to anons in threads like on /b/. It would help with the "Which anon?" problem.

/anon/ used to have that. People didn't really like it and many misunderstood it, thinking the id was persistent between different threads.

bbbbbut you can already know how many replies a thread has. On the board you can see the number on "200 posts omitted. Click View to see all." Right under the OP.

You can also know the number by entering the thread and looking at the tab name.

>Being able to see what page a thread is on from the inside of the thread sounds useful.

Not really, as MLPchan is slow enough to not to care if a thread is at page 5 or more. It won't get prunned anyway.
But if you can add the feature, that's good.

Damn true. The Catalog is a great thing, please add it at the top of every board page, and a little bigger this time.

Would kill samefagging. I don't know how the community feels about the concept.
