Tinyboard problems Anonymous 11829

Hey /site/, I have some problems with tinyboard, I guess I can ask about it here.

First of all, I have to "reload" the page in order to see new posts. If I just open the site again like, example.com/b/ or just click the /b/ hotlink on top of the page it will just show me the cached page excluding new posts.

I need the Tomorrow style badly can someone link me to it/upload it?

When I delete a post, I get the error
>syslog() has been disabled for security reasons
it will still delete the post but, it annoys me and probably annoy others too.

When I click a board from the mod panel
>http://www.example.com/mod.php?/b/index.html
if I choose Catalog view it will redirect me to
>http://www.example.com/catalog.php
which doesnt exist…

Help me mlpchan, please.

This is my instance-config.php

These lines on the code won't work,

>$config['url_banner'] = '/banner.jpg';

>$config['poster_ids'] = true;
>$config['stylesheets']['Futaba'] = 'futaba.css';
>$config['stylesheets']['Dark'] = 'dark.css';
>$config['boardlist_wrap_bracket'] = true;

Now when I try to rebuild the site, I get the error

>Error

An error has occured.
set_time_limit(): Cannot set time limit in safe mode

Reload problem seems to be fixed, but I have done nothing to fix it, I don't know how it got fixed…

But I will move to a nice, clean vps tomorrow. Any hints, simple tutorial on moving my board?

Make sure to set the Cache-Control HTTP header on .html pages. "public, max-age=5" is a good value for the public pages of an imageboard.

It's not really hidden: https://mlpchan.net/stylesheets/Tomorrow.css
Though it probably depends on specific bits of the main stylesheet and changes to the templates I've made here.

Disable PHP's safe mode. It's been deprecated anyway for a while now.

The catalog here isn't part of upstream Tinyboard. I think recent versions of Tinyboard have their own catalog by now. Make sure it's enabled under the "Manage themes" section.

The $config['cookies']['salt'] and $config['secure_trip_salt'] values are supposed to be secret; you should change those again.
You have some of those additional scripts in twice.

mysqldump for the database and rsync for the images

Hey, thanks for your help!

I guess I'm doing something wrong with the styles, as you can see I tried to add dark stylesheet to my board in instance-config but I failed. Whats the problem though?

I fixed the problem.
I've moved to the new vps now, everything is faster and stuff and I fixed most of the errors above, except the catalog one.

Well, I get the error
>Error
>An error has occured.
>You must upload an image.
When I'm trying to upload a larger image than usual. Doesn't matter what extension.

And gifs are not animated

>$config['thumb_method'] = 'convert';

I had exactly no "warnings" while installing tinyboard, they were all "check" except git.

These are my only problems left, thanks for your help, mlpchan, Macil!

Your webserver (Apache or nginx) or PHP is limiting the maximum filesize it can accept. Increase its limit to be higher than the limit you set in Tinyboard.

MACIL! Thank you very much! :3

What about the gif problem though?

Make sure $config['redraw_image'] is false, and then GIFs that are thumbnail size or smaller will stay animated.

In order to have GIFs that are thumbnailed stay animated, you need to install gifsicle and switch the thumb_method to 'convert+gifsicle'. (This site does not do that.) Make sure you are using a recent enough version of Tinyboard that supports that (check if the 'convert+gifsicle' method is mentioned anywhere in inc/config.php).

As I said, I installed everything that was "required" on the tinyboard install page, before I installed them before I started installing tinyboard of course. Now I added those codes to my instance-config but still no luck…

+I went to /etc/php.ini, increased the max file/post upload size then I went on cpanel php and did the same but still no luck…

I don't know if gifsicle is on the list of required dependencies, or if it or Tinyboard's code for it work well. I've tripped on Tinyboard issues before, though can't remember which got fixed upstream or which I fixed in my local branch. Expect to have to debug the code yourself at times.

There might be different PHP config files in use depending on how you are using PHP with your webserver. Check for any other files matching "/etc/php*.ini".

And make sure your webserver (nginx, apache, etc) isn't the limiting factor.

Err… sorry for bringing this old thread up but I'm having the same problem here.

How do I set this Cache-Control thing? I'm not really good with this stuff so thanks in advance.

You'll have to configure your webserver (likely Apache or nginx) to do that. If you're using Apache, then you'll need to make a ".htaccess" file in the tinyboard root (same directory that has post.php) with this content:

<FilesMatch "\.(html|htm)$">
Header set Cache-Control "private, max-age=5"
</FilesMatch>
