Talking about adds, I have this idea to make an mlpchan add animation and release it on youtube to get some more posters here. I just need to know 2 things:
1 Do you consent?
2 Is there anything you can do to stop me if you don't?

Macil!/5s/Techmk 11345

No idea, a user put the ad up on their own.

Sersys!CyQeb5KTDM 11374

Hey Marcil, I'm sorry about that harassment thread, I didn't realize you were Littlepip. You were right all along, I won't harass Z any more.

Macil!/5s/Techmk 11376

I was the mod that replied to you in that /oat/ thread you linked and I used the ## Mod tag there! I need to put that on more often, I usually use it at least once a thread when I'm talking about the rules, but I missed that /site/ thread.

Anonymous 11377

We had an ad?

Anonymous 11378

I'm right here.
The OP was callißng atteßntion to mod discßrepancies and I would sußpport that with my opinion that some mßods are really not suitßed for their joßb hßere.
The problem is, I beßlieve one of theßm is the owßner of this webßsite.
So really, what's thßere to be done other thaßn leave?
I'm not going to attempt ßto overßthrow your wßebsite becaßuse I don't agree with it.
Cßurrently I am tryßing to make my own website with a collaborator, but progress is slow.

Sersys!CyQeb5KTDM 11379

No, it's just I can't expect the tech admin to explain how community rules work.

Thank you for hijacking my thread.

Macil!/5s/Techmk 11381

I think it linked to /anon/ with a picture from one of the /mlp/ generals that moved over to here. 4chan in the last few months made it really easy to buy advertisements on their boards.

Off topic
I'm a moderator too.
I couldn't even figure out what OP was trying to say, besides trying to imply one of the rules written on the homepage didn't apply. Admittedly not all of the post links linkified. There's a bug with them right now if there aren't newlines or at least two non-link characters between post links.
>your request looks automated
Make sure you use a browser that supports javascript and the localStorage API. (That's not a strict requirement, but there seems to be an occasional bug with bot detection and browsers that don't.)

If you want to reply to these parts, please make a new thread. This thread hijacking is getting ridiculous.

Sersys!CyQeb5KTDM 11382

Can I open a thread about this or you will only lock that too?

Macil!/5s/Techmk ## Mod 11384

Any more thread hijacking here beyond this post = ban from the /site/ board. Yes, you can make a new thread.

>The problem is, I beßlieve one of theßm is the owßner of this webßsite.

The owner of this website is Anonthony, and he is currently in basic military training, he hasn't been active on this site in months.

>Cßurrently I am tryßing to make my own website with a collaborator, but progress is slow.

Lol, for what purpose? Your own spinoff of this site where you can enforce your own stupid variation of the rules and have like three super-autistic regular posters, yourself included?

Anonymous 11398

But anyways back to OP's topic, I haven't seen the ad on /mlp/ for a long time, however I don't go there super-frequently anymore.

Anonymous 11410

I'd be curious to know if the mods actually support having ads for this site on /mlp/…on one hand it could bring in more traffic but on the other it could bring in underage shitposters…

Tom' the /♥/ bringer ## Mod 11413

I don't care much personally.
Like it's really cool that some members went out of their way to do it for us (we honestly never bought a single ad space on 4chan) but, well…
Officially I'd rather spend the site's money towards server costs, we're not exactly rich (The Minecraft server is not funded by member's donations to the site, but by my own money as well as the server's admin's)
Personally, I find internet ads intrusive and I don't think they're viable mostly because more and more people use adblock. I think aeventually the focus is gonna switch to other ways to advertise and monetize on the internet, that won't be copying from other media.
Twitter seems to be on the right path for example. But that's a completely different debate, anyway, that's how I feel about ads on /mlp/.

Macil!/5s/Techmk 11416

Amusingly, 4chan's new ads made me disable Adblock Plus on 4chan. They're much better targeted now and less generic. I like to see them now actually. I think simple self-serve ad systems like that are the way to go for sites like that with ads. (No, I'm not currently planning to add ads to this site. For one, I don't think we have near enough traffic for that to be anywhere near worthwhile.)

Anonymous 11419

This is pretty much how I feel.

File: 1381308208797.png (239.66 KB, 688x573, 1380941615907.png)

There are a few websites that have occasionally forced me to disable adblock too see their content, I am not sure how that works, but what if some place like youtube used the same method, there would be chaos.

I do disable the adblock for that specific website just becasue the information is really valuable and I would probably pay for it anyway, but for other websites that try such tricks I just avoid them, which may be why the majority of websites imo are not using this method in mass. Because the benefit of getting some people to disable their adblock is not worth the loss in website visitors even though they are not seeing ads blocking them hurts their traffic.

Macil!/5s/Techmk 11465

Er, to be clear, when I said
>4chan's new ads made me disable Adblock Plus on 4chan.
I meant I did that out of my own choice because I wanted to see 4chan's ads.
If a site tries to force me to disable Adblock Plus, then I close the site and never go back to it.

But what if the site has free valuable content you cannot easily get elsewhere?

The Vulture!3bqGraff0U 11532

This is the Internet.
Everything is available somewhere else.

File: 1381460961292.jpg (512.52 KB, 1800x1800, 1380839409864.jpg)

That's probably true to an extent but what if their content is qualitatively superior in multiple ways and faster, and that information is valuable in dollar related terms. I unfortunately will not sacrifice money just so I don;t have to disable adblock.

The Vulture!3bqGraff0U 11639

So, what, they have a better site?
Eh. I'd still go some place else, more on principle than anything.
People using underhanded tacts like that won't be getting my business .
