Some suggestions? teh_Foxx0rz (Element of Textwall)!FoxxyWhyUQ 11032

Two things which would really make posting for me and some a lot easier:

I'd thoroughly enjoy some kind of URL bar icon change when a thread gets new posts, like PonychanX does back on Ponychan. Makes keeping up with things much more convenient.

And, a friend on a mobile suggested adding a +10 view option for mobile users, since phones (and handheld games consoles) often have much smaller memory capacities than computers, and one may not so much need even that many posts when they're just trying to be quick from their mobile and want to save that memory load.

>URL bar icon
The favicon? Sounds easy - about 10 lines tops from what I've seen. Don't know if it would be a popular feature, though.

Sounds like a throughput issue. I'm not entirely sure there would be massive load time gains from a +10 view

Ugh… small buttons on mobile QR.

As I was typing, I'm not sure there would be large gains because it is a function of the database call; it's construction would largely determine whether or not it's worthwhile. Since it's likely the amount of data between the two would differ by a couple of MBs at most, I don't know. Memory variance between the two would be negligible on modern devices.

I don't really see why it wouldn't be so popular - maybe not ubiquitous, but it would have those who'd make good use of it.

Hmm, technical workings aren't something I'm knowledgeable on, so I don't know, but maybe that small amount could make a bit of difference on some less fancy ones. But I'd imagine you technical nerds would be better to say whether that would be much of a thing.

Well I suppose that's true, though if the thread is bigger than 10 posts I feel like you'll be missing most of the conversation if you only get the last 10.
50 is generally a nice balance. Do we have anyone who browses the site on a mobile often who has any opinion on this?

I browse the chan usually every time I'm in class.

I've always found it a bit tedious to scroll through 50 posts, since about one or two posts take up my entire moble screen. Even if I zoom out, it still fills quite a portion of my screen. I personally don't need 50 of them, that seems like quite a lot to fill up a page.

I'd say maybe a margin around 25-10 would be just fine, even for a serial thread. You can leave the 50 option, of course, if that's possible.

I just always found it difficult to get to the bottom of the page when I have to scroll through large posts on a small screen, and I just wanted to skip down to the bottom. A smaller post count would make things more simple.

I've also had issues with the auto updator, and it being a bit difficult to select the 'update now' button, since I first have to choose the +_ -_ thing, which appears next to the reply box on my phone. It keeps thinking I'm selecting the reply box, so it gets a bit annoying, and when I do get into the update options, it seems to have a hard time registering it.

That's just my opinion, though. My battery seems to drain really quickly when I'm using the net on it as well, but that might be from using the net in general. I'm not really a phone expert…

The page title shows the number of unread posts in parentheses already. If someone makes a good edit of the icon to my liking for new posts, I'll put it in. (Maybe with the apples outlined with an aura or something.)

A last-10-posts page for threads is a bit few posts. In topic threads, that's probably not enough posts to see to be able to post productively in the thread. In serial threads, you're going to eventually get more than 50 posts auto-refreshed into the page anyway. There are some technical and usability issues with mobile and large threads, but I don't think a last-10-posts page is a good solution. Actual pagination and some mobile-specific controls would be better.
