It's a small detail, but…

The [url] tag doesn't seem to work if the link provided doesn't begin with http://, https://, or ftp://.

If I wanted to link google.com, I'd have to type \[url=http://www.google.com] instead of \[url=www.google.com].

The same applies to regular links. http://www.google.com works, but not www.google.com

Why is this? It's not a problem per se, but I'm just curious.

Anonymous 14193

>>14192
It also seems like typing http:// before anything creates a link regardless of whether it's a valid URL or not.

>The [url] tag doesn't seem to work if the link provided doesn't begin with http://, https://, or ftp://.
It's intentional that those are the only allowed ones. I guess I could have it guess and auto-add "http://" if none of those are found, but it might confuse someone who tries to link to an unsupported protocol if http:// is added.

>The same applies to regular links. http://www.google.com works, but not www.google.com

Not all URLs begin with www., and I think it would just make it more confusing if the protocol part was only needed on some URLs to auto-linkify.

Macil!/5s/Techmk 14275

>>14193
I'd rather not make the linkifying too strict and risk ignoring valid links. http://1249767265 is a valid URL for example.

I should fix it so it requires at least one non-punctuation character after the protocol so "http://," doesn't get linkified at least.

Tinyboard problems Anonymous 11829[View]

Hey /site/, I have some problems with tinyboard, I guess I can ask about it here.

First of all, I have to "reload" the page in order to see new posts. If I just open the site again like, example.com/b/ or just click the /b/ hotlink on top of the page it will just show me the cached page excluding new posts.

I need the Tomorrow style badly can someone link me to it/upload it?

When I delete a post, I get the error
>syslog() has been disabled for security reasons
it will still delete the post but, it annoys me and probably annoy others too.

When I click a board from the mod panel
>http://www.example.com/mod.php?/b/index.html
if I choose Catalog view it will redirect me to
>http://www.example.com/catalog.php
which doesnt exist…

I don't know if gifsicle is on the list of required dependencies, or if it or Tinyboard's code for it work well. I've tripped on Tinyboard issues before, though can't remember which got fixed upstream or which I fixed in my local branch. Expect to have to debug the code yourself at times.

There might be different PHP config files in use depending on how you are using PHP with your webserver. Check for any other files matching "/etc/php*.ini".

And make sure your webserver (nginx, apache, etc) isn't the limiting factor.

Anonymous 14205

Err… sorry for bringing this old thread up but I'm having the same problem here.
>>If I just open the site again like, example.com/b/ or just click the /b/ hotlink on top of the page it will just show me the cached page excluding new posts.
Make sure to set the Cache-Control HTTP header on .html pages. "public, max-age=5" is a good value for the public pages of an imageboard.

How do I set this Cache-Control thing? I'm not really good with this stuff so thanks in advance.

Macil!/5s/Techmk 14273

>>14205
You'll have to configure your webserver (likely Apache or nginx) to do that. If you're using Apache, then you'll need to make a ".htaccess" file in the tinyboard root (same directory that has post.php) with this content:

<FilesMatch "\.(html|htm)$">
Header set Cache-Control "private, max-age=5"
</FilesMatch>

On /oat/ and /pony/ why are the last 7 or so threads of page one also on page two?

Firefox 24

I loaded it up on IE to see if it was doing the same thing, and lo and behold it didn't… until I started hiding some of the threads!

Idk it seems to be a really weird thing with thread hiding I guess? Hide a thread on the first page and then refresh and it will pull over the first thread on page 2 at the bottom. Which, I guess is fine? I just didn't expect that to be the case…

Anonymous 14268

>>14252
It appears to be intentional. When you hide threads, whether it be from the mature content filter or from the thread hider, the site automatically loads more threads from the page that follows after the one you're on.

Clarification please 14220[View]

I want to get some clarification on the rules as far as adult content on oat.

I was under the impression that as long as an image was censored it was ok to post, as has been the policy up until recently.

But now apparently there is such a thing as "not enough censorship" to deem a picture postable or not.

I am curious exactly what the requirements are for censorship to make pictures with adult content postworthy.

Why does so much of the site require javascript? I can't browse mature content threads or change the theme without it.

I know that it isn't required for catalog view either, although, I haven't tried that here.

Is any work going to be done to improve this? I'm used to chans not having features that help thread navigation without js, but mlpchan requires js for basic features, yet it runs on the same software as many other imageboards that don't have this problem.

I'm befuddled. JS generally slows my browser down, causes lockups, and is a security risk, not that I don't think I can trust mlpchan.

Also, I didn't want to make multiple threads, so I have another question.

Is there a way to disable shortcut keys in the reply box? I haven't yet tried it with no js yet.

I feel like I had another question, but I can't remember it, although, it's not like this thread will go anywhere soon.

What browser do you use and what extensions do you have installed?

Anonymous 13965[View]

Here's a idea for a feature you should check out as an experiment.
A box popping up with an explanation when clicking a question mark. It'll mostly be used when wanting to insert brackets to explain what you meant with a phrase or word, but you don't want to ruin the pacing of your sentence.

e.g.
'' You shouldn't tripfag[?] if you have nothing to contribute. Then again you shouldn't tripfag at all. ''
[?]
A tripfag is a user with a name and a code to the right of their name. They often use these names to attentionwhore and start their own circlejerks and generally be very fucking annoying.
