Question: Is there a way that you can code this to work on this site?

If someone could help me, I would really appreciate it!

Steam Web Browser Issues fallenPineapple !doof.n7.A2 6891[View]

Just a little heads up, the scripts are completely broken in steams web browser. No settings page, auto update, quick post etc..

May not be the highest priority but they did work at one point. Just something to look into.

I was just informed of this issue from my sites users, think it was the march 31st updates that did it, unfortunately I don't have the old scripts to test with.

It seems the Worldbuilders Thread in /ooc/ has autosaged for some reason and none of us over there know exactly why.

Can someone please alert us as to what's going on?

Bump limit has been raised to over 500.

If your thread was ever to get big enoug to justify it, you might want to consider including a #Cyclic tag in the OP.
Any staff member will be glad to do it for you. You can even ask for it now if you want.

Site updates, new board and more! !!Fluttershy 6705[View]

Hello mlpchan!
After a few community discussions, we are going to implement a few new features. We're very excited to bring you those and I hope you guys will enjoy them!

First and foremost, as you may have noticed, we have a new board: >>>/ooc/ - Out of Character - Roleplay planning. The growing /rp/ community has been asking for a planning and announcements board as seen here >>6651, so we're giving it a try, see how it pans out!

Then, we want to discuss /fan/. The imageboard format has never been the most fitting for fanwork projects, and this board hasn't really provided a needed space for that audience, most of whom maintain such things on places like deviantArt or traditional forums.
While we could simply remove it or unlist as unneeded space, we could also try to re-purpose the board before doing anything like that. Nothing would make us happier than seeing /fan/ develop its own community.
One of our ideas is to turn it into a feedboard, getting updates from EQD, EquestriaAfterDark (after our Mature filter, of course) and other feed sources for example… But we feel we could do better.
Would it interest you guys? And if not - what would you like to see on /fan/ if you have ideas of your own?

Site filter, developed by Legendary!!VhZ4lFrash, will be implemented very soon as well, as the code for it simply needs to be tweaked by our very own Mac'.

Finally, I'd like to update you guys on a site-wide announcements system, it has been widely asked for, and we did get a few ideas on it. It is pretty high on the priority list, so expect updates soon.

If you have any input on those matters - please, post them here! ♥

Reply Notifier !!Applejack ## Admin ## 6909[View]

As you may have noticed or are already using, the site has a Reply Notifier.

The Reply Notifier will do two things; first, it will put the number of new replies to you in a thread that is currently opened in the tab. That is, in the top bar of your browser, where it already tells you if/how many new replies there are in a thread (with a little number in parenthesis), it will also tell you specifically if there are new replies to your own posts. Whenever someone posts a reply to you (quotes you, your post link) in a thread you have open, the tab will display it - (1 reply) or (2 replies) etc.

The second thing it will do is optional; it will also chime a sound to alert you to new replies, though this is a separate option for people who want the tab to tell them of new replies but not hear the sound. So you can either of just the one, or both!

Notes about the audible portion of the Reply Notifier: the QR must be enabled, and of course, the setting itself turned on, and the thread(s) open in your browser.

This function makes it all the easier to keep track of your conversations and discussions, especially when you're using multiple threads or doing other things while chan'ing.

Let us know if you have any questions.

JavaScript is another story though.
I am in no place to be coding at the moment, but it wouldn't be too difficult to write some code that checked which theme was being used, and then changed the soundbyte accordingly.

Issues using the site with a phone JiiKoo!BeBETTErJA 6886[View]

Basically, my name field keeps clearing itself after each post. Also, I can't access the settings and auto-updating doesn't work, but I'm not sure if that's a limitation on the browser itself, and those don't bother me that much at all. I'm using version 7.5.33286 of Opera Mini with an Android phone.

Name clearing itself is pretty self-explanatory, I'd think. I write my name, I post, it goes poof. I can deal with that, copy-pasting my trip every time, but it gets pretty annoying pretty fast.

As for the navbar, if I have text wrapping enabled I cannot see it at all. With text wrapping unchecked, I can see the navbar and the "settings" link at the top of the "home" page. When clicked, it shows the headers for the different settings (Page Formatting, Link Behaviour) but clicking them only closes the setting window and it doesn't show the actual settings under any of the headers. On the actual boards I cannot see the "settings" link at all, but I can see the navbar. On both settings (text wrapping or no) I have the links to different boards at the bottom of each page.

I tested this stuff using the default Android browser for comparison and all the features work just fine, the browser itself just is slow as molasses and I'd prefer not to use it because of that. If the navbar + settings are a limitation of the browser, that's okay, I'll look into finding a different browser if need be. The name field I'd imagine should work, considering it doesn't clear itself over on Pchan with Opera Mini (did tests). Unless Tinyboard has a different way of dealing with it or something, I dunno.

Thanks for reading, I hope it's not too much trouble to check this out <3

well, actually, that's wrong.

I don't know if it can be done, but it might be possible for your name to be saved in a cookie, that stays on your phone.
The cookie is than checked from the mlpchan server, and it's then loaded once it gets to your phone.
Again, I don't know if that's possible, but that's my best guess.
Maybe just have a bit of code written to see if you're using opera mini, and if you are, to save the name data via the cookie, (or via whatever)
again, I don't know if that'd work, but it couldn't hurt to ask mac.

>>6900
Yeah, that's pretty much what I got from wikipedia about Opera Mini, as well. I just really didn't know how the site handles the data for the name field. I'm assuming it uses a script of some sort, then, since it doesn't work? I really know next to nothing abut coding of any sort, so I'm just guessing here :P I'm also assuming Ponychan saves the name data as a cookie, since it works over there.

Seriously, though, thank you for taking your time with this, especially since it is not even close to being a major issue. I don't think there's really any need to spend time and effort to write code for such a limited number of people, so I think I'll just have to make do if that's what it would require.

Legendary!!VhZ4lFrash 6905

>>6904
Heh I'm not really much of a coder, I just taught myself networking and server side function.
I really don't mind at all, and if I can find a work around, or a snippet that's pre written, I can hand it over to mac. Might as well have functionality, right?
Yeah, I would assume pchan stores the name data in a cookie or something like that.
I'm busy till about 11 my time tonight, but I can certainly look for something after then :)

Character limits. Again. Dusty Page !Nzixts.png 6869[View]

Wouldn't a character limit of 8192 on non-/fic/ boards make a bit more sense than 7500, given it's exactly 8 KB?
Also, posts tend to get godawful long on /rp/ sometimes, so I imagine it might be beneficial to use /fic/'s expanded limit there.
All just a suggestion, but I'd like to hear staff feedback regardless.

/ooc/ post limit Dusty Page [notrip] 6872[View]

Hey, so, it's not AS much a problem as /rp/ was, but.
On /ooc/ old content can be as valuable as on /rp/, and much like /rp/, the threads still don't reach the same extremes as, say, /chat/ used to. In particular, even on Ponychan, which does not have the same technical limitations you do, they seldom exceed a thousand posts, and the longest threads there (before we moved here) now self-cap as a conscientious manner between 3k and 3.5k.
Would it be troublesome to raise the reply limit to equal /rp/'s?
If so, it's not a big problem or anything; the canon that concerns me, those threads move far slower than the roleplay threads,so it won't be much additional work to keep them archived.

Issues are mostly allowed to be worked out between the users, with moderator interaction coming in when necessary, if I understand.

That's not happening. I don't know why, but this is always how it's been, more or less, and from what I know, I don't see that trend changing anytime soon. And hey, when the moderators intervened with my legitimate issues, it was lazily dealt with, painting me and my stalker with a broad brush, and I had to yell at the admin for a little while to get taken even remotely seriously.

I don't like dealing with jerks, and the mods just won't. I'm not going to put in the effort to try and hassle everyone, all the way up to the top, to get issues of common sense dealt with without it being done lazily and without me being insulted (and apologized to later). This has happened multiple times now. I love you guys to death, but this is not one of your strong suits. Friends of mine and I have had many conversations with the administrator about this topic, and the issue keeps occurring.

So can someone please add a blocking feature to the website?

Reply Notifier Bug 6699[View]

Alright, I am having sort a issue with the reply notifier. Whenever I get the reply sound it sometimes makes the sound from everything else stop working.

Like, everything else will play sound… Other programs that plays media.

Just not on my browser anymore.

It will freeze and get stuck. Then no more sound from the notifier at all.

So I have to restart my compy to fix this issue. But then it will happen a bit later.

So yeah, I am dumbfounded here.

SVG 6489[View]

Well. First off, hello everyone.

Now to the point. A while ago I created a thread asking for SVG support, and I'm not here often, so I'd like to know: do we have it yet? If not: why not?

!!Littlepip 6493

File: 1364467572403.png (184.64 KB, 945x945)

It hasn't been very high priority. The SVG format has much more in common with HTML than raster image formats. Most of the current image handling code doesn't support them, and SVGs can have embedded javascript which is a security issue that I'm not too sure what the standard way of handling is. I know MediaWiki supports SVG, so I'll have to check out its code sometime.

Very well. Is it possible to parse out any JS, or would it be too difficult to pull it out of the image data (via regex matching)?
