Very well, Your Honour.

On August the 17th of this year, Prince Blueblood, who was related to Princess Celestia, was found murdered. The pony responsible for this heinous crime is unfortunately none other than the Element of Generosity herself, Rarity. She pushed Blueblood to her death, and now she must be punished for her actions.

The Great and Powerful Trixie calls upon the human detective, Dick Gumshoe, to give us his report.

>Witness Testimony<

1. The call came in around 9:30. We'd gotten reports of a heated argument at a nearby apartment complex. We arrived there at about 9:45 and found the victim lying sprawled out on the ground, dead as a doorknob!
2. There was glass all around the victim, as well as a knife sticking outta him. Seems like he took a real nasty fall.
3. We found glass matching the glass around the victim's body in an apartment all the way on the 75th floor, pal! That's quite a drop. What a nasty way to go...
4. We also caught the defendant leaving the aparment in question. She seemed like she was in a pretty big hurry...
5. The inside of the apartment looked like a fight had broken out recently, and with all the broken glass, it was obvious that the victim had been pushed to his death.
6. We also found the defendant's hairs among the broken glass, and uh... something on the knife, leading us to believe that she was the one the victim fought with.
7. With no other suspects, we arrested her right then and there!

OBJECTION!
It's called suspense, Trixie. Anyways, I would like to direct your attention to the knife! This knife brings up several questions.Firstly, where exactly was the victim stabbed? I'd imagine being stabbed would normally bring a life to a pretty quick end. Secondly, how long was it inside the body?

In other words, either the knife, or the autopsy report is faulty!

OBJECTION!
Clearly you haven't the slightest clue.
Blueblood was tossed out a window after being stabbed. What's more, it was in the side, and missed most vital organs. Unless you're telling me Blueblood held the world record for bleeding out the fastest, the fall would have killed him sooner.

We didn't find any other injuries save for a few cuts and scrapes we can assume were sustained from smashing through a window. For your question, the knife was found sticking out of his side, as the Detective has already told you. The knife was found jutting out of him, so Trixie assumes it was there since his death.

These are the glass shards that were mentioned by the Detective. They were found both inside and outside the apartment, so we can assume that this glass was from the window Blueblood was thrown out of.

There is also this towel that was recovered from the scene. It was lying next to Blueblood. Judging by his state of clothing, he probably came out of the shower before being murdered.

OBJECTION!
A motive doesn't matter, Mr. Wrong. Whichever way you look at it, Rarity was the only pony able to kill Blueblood that day.

>Wine stains, blood and disturbed surroundings were recovered from the scene of the crime. Blood splatter matches to a pattern that would be sustained from a stabbing.

His blood was found inside the apartment, and Rarity's aura is on the knife. How did the blood get there if he wasn't stabbed with the knife you say was placed? How else do you explain how he died? Are we to assume he stabbed himself and threw himself out the window?

The Prosecution asserts that Rarity remains the culprit to the murder!

TAKE THAT!
>Towel presented
This towel is a rather odd addition to all the things among the evidence! It has the wine and the blood from the scuffle, but the hole in it is the rather odd thing about it, you see. It lines up with the stabbing, yes, but the fact that it remained with him after he fell is odd. Normally, something like that would fall off instantly during a scuffle! Why is there a hole here? Why is it at the Victim's side?

>>877905
The blood is never stated to have been found at any specific place in the apartment! It is entirely possible that the glass cut him, and there was blood that was found near the window! If there are signs of a struggle, it is not unlikely that he was injured during the scuffle and started to bleed! I realize that there are blood splatters that make it look as if he was appeared, but this is but a possibility! There is only one stab wound, that much is true, but the glass could have pierced him in such a way to produce such a splatter!

>How else do you explain how he died?

Take a look at the Autopsy Report!
>Ex. 2 Autopsy Report Dick Gumshoe
Subject died of massive blunt force trauma as a result of falling from the 75th floor balcony. Estimated time of death is placed at 9:25 PM. Subject was not clothed.

He died as a result of Blunt force trauma!

The knife may have Rarity's aura, but it is a kitchen knife, mind you! A common house hold item! It is possible that someone could have stolen it and used it to fight with the victim! A true perpetrator would have teleported away from the scene of the crime! Which begs another question! Rarity is a unicorn capable of teleportation! Why did she decide to walk out instead of teleport?

The answer? Because she was going to rush and get help because someone else just murdered Blueblood!

OBJECTION!
>Normally, something like that would fall off instantly during a scuffle?
It appears you're not terribly acquainted with how towels work, Mr. Wrong. Granted, he could have been stabbed and the towel could have unraveled, but how can you possibly prove that? If it was found beside him it's assumed it fell with him.

>He died as a result of Blunt force trauma!

Yes, from falling off the 75th floor.
Trixie thought that would have been obvious.

>The knife may have Rarity's aura, but it is a kitchen knife, mind you! A common house hold item!

Rarity was only ever recorded once entering the apartment. The apartment has a camera that tracks how they come in.
> Camera Feed added to court record.
There is no possible way for her to have touched that knife prior to Blueblood's death.

>Why did she decide to walk out instead of teleport?

The apartment is 200 meters off the ground floor. Perhaps Rarity disliked heights. Perhaps she was too shaken to teleport. How can YOU explain how she didn't teleport out?

>but the glass could have pierced him in such a way to produce such a splatter!

Hmph. This is true, but the investigation has not turned up anything yet. Even with the death of the previous unfortunate pony, we are not readily equipped to deal with murder, unfortunately.

Right away, Your Honor.

Things went as followed:
>Rarity and Blueblood are together for a party; there are other ponies at the party
>There was a cake at the party, which is why there was a knife there, Rarity's knife!
>She cut the cake!
>As everyone was leaving, there was one pony with malicious intent.
>They got into a scuffle, the pony and Blueblood that is
>Rarity saw the tail end of this event, and she got out to go get someone, looking horribly shaken up
>The real killer takes the towel that fell off in the room as well as the cake knife
>They place the knife inside the dead body, stabbing it through the towel to try to make it seem believable
>They flee the scene once more

Trixie, it's simple! The actual scuffle caused the towel to fall off! Since evidence shows that there was a scuffle, it's highly likely to have been knocked off and soaked in the blood when Blueblood was pushed out the window!

>There is no possible way for her to have touched that knife prior to Blueblood's death.

That's not likely, Trixie! Rarity is capable of teleportation, remember? She simply teleported in, being invited! There is no way she would have been able to be there without being recorded otherwise, which proves she as capable of doing it! Ergo! She had the ability to teleport away, but she didn't, because she wasn't the one who assaulted Blueblood, it was someone else!

Mr. Wright, I have but one question to ask you. You say there was someone else who did this crime. How could they have gotten into the room? Yay! Remember traumatic experiences is what I love to do the most... or maybe it is what I fear the most...

>I was released from the hospital I was in for so long early in the morning, on the condition that I have a homestay nurse that helps and monitors me during my day to day activities

>A few hours after being released from the Hospital and relocating my stuff back to my house, I went out with my nurse to take a walk around Canterlot

>While I was walking around, I heard a loud screaming coming from above me.

>I looked up, but the sky was much too bright to see anything. Weird, huh?

>After a few seconds, like maybe 15 or so, I heard an even louder yelling that was coming closer to me; though I couldn't see what it was because of the bright light.

>When the sound came close enough, I could finally see what it was; it was a stallion about to hit the ground. The next thing I know, there was a stallion bouncing slightly off of the ground with many crunches coming from his body.

>The next thing I knew, there was a large grey alien next to me seemingly crying; that is what I assumed it was doing though, as I know nothing about alien bodies and where stuff is located. For all I know, it was just taking a clear, slow, trickling urination from two of its top holes.

>I looked down at the body again, seeing its crumpled and broken form before a bright flash came from my side, where the alien was.

>I looked where the alien was, but he completely vanished after that flash of light. Maybe he went back to his mothership or something.

>I looked back at the broken and severely twisted body and walked off to try and find my nurse. I thought maybe I was going insane again, because the whole situation just seemed unreal.

>When I came back, there were police ponies everywhere and the murder scene had changed, probably due to the cops investigating.

I don't know. I just looked up and it was extremely bright; like a yellowish clearish type of light that was almost completely blinding. Miss Trixie, the knife that was found in the body was a kitchen knife! Kitchen knives do not come embedded with gems! Furthermore! The blade was split into two! This knife's blade that the witness speaks of has been broken into two, meaning that this is an entirely different knife!

It is completely contradictory to the knife in the court record! The reason being, because the knife in the court record was found inside the body! The second part of the blade was not mentioned! This blade was completely whole, inside the body of the victim!

This contradiction can only mean one thing!

Your Honour, there is but one piece of evidence that explain how no one noticed this pony falling or the actions of the true murderer.
TAKE THAT!
>Exhibit 7 "Exothermic Flare" Presented

The true murderer had used this spell to create a flare that would more or less blind everyone for a short amount of time! This spell shows that they could get away with such an act!
Please refer to the Witness' Testimony!
>4) I looked up, but the sky was much too bright to see anything. Weird, huh?

This proves that a flare was used! Trixie herself submitted this evidence to the court!

>>880170
What the witness just said is also important! The towel did indeed fall off the victim inside the room where the scuffle was! The fact that there was no towel after it fell means that someone significantly changed the crime scene, just as the witness said in her testimony!
>11) When I came back, there were police ponies everywhere and the murder scene had changed, probably due to the cops investigating.
She assumed it was just the police swapping around evidence, but in fact, it was the murderer who rearranged and forged the crime scene!

The events transpired like so

>The real murderer stabs Blueblood in his room with a knife with an intention to kill him, but they missed

>The towel fell off the victim before he fell out the window, for he was in a scuffle
>The victim was forced out the window to his death
>The murderer used a flare spell to blind the crowd, so she could have ample time to rearrange the crime scene
>She placed the towel on the victim and inserted the cake knife into the wound, pulling out the broken knife that was split into two and disposing it somewhere else
>She teleported away from the scene as to not get caught

The Defense also has a theory who this murder was.
It was none other than the "alien" that the witness testified about!

>7) The next thing I knew, there was a large grey alien next to me seemingly crying; that is what I assumed it was doing though, as I know nothing about alien bodies and where stuff is located. For all I know, it was just taking a clear, slow, trickling urination from two of its top holes.
>8) I looked down at the body again, seeing its crumpled and broken form before a bright flash came from my side, where the alien was.
>9) I looked where the alien was, but he completely vanished after that flash of light. Maybe he went back to his mothership or something.

You see, the murderer disguised themselves so they would not be recognizable! Then they pretended to mourn the death for a brief moment by forcing themselves to cry! They promptly teleported away as well! Mind you, this is the same "alien" that had a light from the "mothership" that blinded the ponies, which I have just concluded was a the Exothermic Flare!

You forget, the flare spell only creates the flare at the origin of the casting position, and only lasts a short time. The caster would not have been able to leave until the spell was finished, and even then the apartment was 75 floors up. How do you suggest in that short time she could have gotten down there?

Trixie, it is entirely possible that they could have done this. They simply used the teleportation spell!
>Excerpt from Magus Equestria shoved in Trixie's face
Spell Stage: 3 Categories: Arcane Magic

Symbol – A circle containing two arrows that bend diagonally towards the middle.

Location Displacement, more commonly referred to as Teleportation, is a form of instant travel resulting from the instantaneous switching of two positions in reality. The resulting travel causes no ill effects on the body, except perhaps a feeling of nausea as a result of being instantly moved. Teleportation requires a large amount of concentration to ensure the entire target is switched with another, and failure to concentrate may result in the field contracting (resulting in only some of the target to switch) or expanding (causing more than what was intended to switch), or even the teleport aborting itself completely. Attempting to teleport without being able to sustain the teleportation will result in the target exhausting themselves quickly. If the distance is too great for the caster to teleport, the caster will find themselves unable to cast the spell much like how a fatigued runner finds himself unable to continue moving.

There are three requirements to “Basic Teleportation”; A clear mental image of the location(s), natural magic talent (For multiple jumps) and stalwart concentration. Being unable to meet these requirements will result in the caster finding themselves unable to jump.

Teleportation is a fairly common way for advanced learners of magic to travel, as it only requires a small amount of effort for those experienced, as well as the travel being instant.

It is possible to teleport into areas that the caster is unaware of, but it requires an absurd amount of effort, as well as the spell almost being guaranteed to fluctuate. It is also possible to teleport into a solid, resulting in a large chunk of the solid to instantly reappear where the caster once was. This isn’t recommended, as it would usually result in the caster suffocating themselves or being crushed to death unless they can get out.

Teleportation is not bound to teleporting oneself. A caster can also teleport another individual, or even switch two areas where no living individuals are present.

Teleportation results in magic resonance to be imprinted onto both locations that were switched. If there is nothing feasible to imprint, there will be no aura. Magic aura imprinted onto air will quickly dissipate and become untraceable. The intensity of the aura will depend on the distance traveled, short jumps lasting for minutes while long ones will last days.

TAKE THAT!
I don't see anything that says that this spell can't be used in conjunction with others!
To make sure, let's take a full look at the Exothermic Flare spell!

>The caster would not have been able to leave until the spell was finished

It is very much possible, Trixie! You are the one who's wrong! I'm Wright!

>Exothermic Flare Presented

TAKE THAT!
Exothermic Flare
Spell Stage: 3 Categories: Dark Magic
Arcane Resonation Serial DFCGSN
Symbol – A circle with a flame in the middle, with six arrows pointing away from it.

Exothermic Flare refers to the act of causing a blinding flare of light to be forcefully expelled directly from the origin of the spell.

Unlike Photonic Manipulation, which allows the user to manipulate photons and light, Exothermic Flare releases cosmic radiation in the form of searing beams, blinding and scorching anyone and anything unfortunate to be close enough to the spell.

Now take a look at how these are both level 3 spells. This would be a feat to pull off for just any unicorn, but the Defense asserts that the unicorn who is the true murderer was more advanced than your usual pony! Both of these spells can be used in succession, given that they will be very taxing on the user. Either way, the possibility remains!

>>880180
That's exactly what I mean, Witness! This "alien" pretended to mourn with you before teleporting away once more! Why would they teleport? Because they were afraid of being caught!

There is no way this unicorn could have been Rarity, for although she is an Element of Harmony, namely, The Element of Generosity, she does not specialize in magic, she specializes in dress-making. Yes, she uses her magic to aid her, but she is incapable of pulling off the spell for another reason as well!

Valid? Laughable. Let's start with this question, then.

>Miss Trixie! Explain this at once!

Photographic evidence was already taken of the scene. The body was moved to prevent the general population from seeing a dead pony in the middle of the street.

Now, onto Mr. Dead Wrong's arguments.
>Trixie, it is entirely possible that they could have done this. They simply used the teleportation spell!
Imagine a flare. Now, light said flare and attempt teleporting. Not only would you carry the flare with you, you'd also probably incinerate the crime scene. It doesn't matter whether or not she did it in conjunction, the spell would have had to have ended before she teleported or the flare would have simply moved and our witness would have been completely blinded for the rest of her life.

Completely ridiculous. The spells are at a Level 3 for beginners to start casting. Any amount of light that would result in blinding someone 75 floors away from you AND teleporting at the same time is nothing short of a feat. Who are you accusing? Twilight Sparkle, perhaps? No, Maybe it was Celestia?

>There is no way this unicorn could have been Rarity, for although she is an Element of Harmony, namely, The Element of Generosity, she does not specialize in magic, she specializes in dress-making. Yes, she uses her magic to aid her, but she is incapable of pulling off the spell for another reason as well!

Oh? I thought just yesterday you were pushing that Rarity was powerful enough to teleport out of the 75th floor building. Change of heart or mid-life crisis?

>This is a dark magic spell! These are spells that the defendant could not have preformed! She is not capable of this type of magic!

How would you know that? Did you ask her? Evidence, maybe? Do you have a record of asking her if she was able to cast this spell?

Miss Trixie, I doubt anyone has ever seen Rarity delve into Dark Magic before. You say level 3 spells are for beginners, but yet you can't even preform these spells! You use a smoke bomb and run away every time you seem to teleport! Level 3 is not for beginners if the prosecutor standing in court today can't even preform it!

Regardless, I am not saying that Rarity is incapable of teleporting. It's quite obvious that she can. I still assert she could not have cast this spell, however.

>Imagine a flare. Now, light said flare and attempt teleporting. Not only would you carry the flare with you, you'd also probably incinerate the crime scene.

>Exothermic Flare refers to the act of causing a blinding flare of light to be forcefully expelled directly from the origin of the spell.

The flare would not be teleported with the unicorn! The flare comes directly from the origin of the spell! It would remain where she was standing, which was on the 75th floor!

>>880202
Mr. Gavin, that's the thing. No one could have done something like that. I doubt even the Princesses themselves are capable of committing these spells in succession. The issue of concentration is there. This is solved by one simple thing. There was an accomplice! The murderer could not have done it all on their own! Their accomplice simply teleported the towel and the knife to the true murderer for them to forge the crime scene with!

This was done before the Police arrived, or even were called, I'm sure!

Your Honour, there are three pieces of evidence that prove that this accomplice was present, and that it could not have been Rarity!

>Exhibit 1: Kitchen Knife plastered onto the Judge's forehead

TAKE THAT!
This knife was found inside the wound of the victim! This is a different knife than what the witness testified about, clearly! It's blade is not broken into two, and it could not have remained inside the body like that if it was, or else there would be no way for the witness to be able to tell it was broken into two!

This witness was the Prosecution's witness! Their testimony shows a large hole in the evidence. The fact that there are two knives clearly means there was a swap! This swap means that there had to be two ponies on this crime! The true murderer who pushed the victim out the window remained in the room, using the flare! What happened next was that the accomplice in the room teleports themselves and the items of the towel and kitchen knife down to the ground while the true murderer kept on using the flare spell!

The accomplice places the towel on and stabs the kitchen knife through the towel, into the wound, successfully framing Rarity for this murder!

My second piece of evidence is the teleportation spell!
>Exhibit 7 presented
TAKE THAT!
>Teleportation is not bound to teleporting oneself. A caster can also teleport another individual, or even switch two areas where no living individuals are present.
This proves this is possible!

And my final piece of evidence is the camera feeds!
>Exhibit 6 presented to the court

The camera feeds show that Rarity was still at the scene of the crime. She was arrested and dragged out by police. If she was the accomplice, she wouldn't have used her own knife nor would she have even been in the room!

The Defense of course, can explain why Rarity was in the room at all.
>Rarity was a guest at the party
>She forgot something at her home, and realized it moments before the murder
>When she teleports away, the murderers spring into action
>When Rarity returns, she returned, only witnessing what was left inside the room.
>The true murderer and their accomplice had already gotten away

The Defense strongly asserts that...

Now, Herr Attorney Wright. You claim that the defendant entered the apartment to attend a party, then teleported out to retrieve an item.

You then claim that in the time she was gone, the murderers performed the dastardly deed conveniently within the timeframe with which the defendant was absent from the apartment.

Next you claim that the murderer and their accomplice escaped from the apartment undetected before the defendant ever returned...

I didn't touch the knife though, it was broken and was not shiny enough, though it was close; it was completely silver, except the handle which was wrapped in a gross brown leather.

The footage that has been submitted to the Court Record has shown the Defendant being dragged out and that only. This is the logical conclusion the evidence has brought me to. Small contradictions usually tend to hide gigantic problems.

It does sound like a stretch, I know, but it is the only deduction I can make!

Allow me to explain my claim!

Trixie this entire time has been giving us details about the crime. She has been with-holding evidence from this court since the beginning, trying to hide the truth! For what purpose? Because she did it! She was the one who killed Blueblood!

>Trixie has a photo of the crime scene that the Detective did not mention in his report

>The body is already missing the broken knife and now has the towel and kitchen knife
>The knife was replaced with Rarity's kitchen knife
>Why Rarity's knife? Because Rarity is a friend of Twilight Sparkle, the pony who had shamed her in front of all Ponyville!
>Trixie wanted revenge on Twilight Sparkle in some way, and she decided to try to frame a friend of Twilight's for murder!
>Trixie has told us about the nature of these spells
>Trixie has pointed out the flaws in my theory, because she has executed these spells!
>She is the true murderer who got into a scuffle with Blueblood!

The reason why no one was ever recorded on footage was because this was a high-class, elite gathering. This was clearly meant to be unicorns only, for everyone teleported in, which is why there is nothing on the camera feeds but Rarity being arrested!

Naturally...
OBJECTION!
It seems I have been wrong about this whole gathering idea. This was meant to be a private meeting between Blueblood and Rarity, now that I think of it. There are no other witnesses that have come forth, meaning that this could have only been a private meeting between two ponies.

Rarity entered on foot because she was the one who was invited to speak with Blueblood. But there was a crucial mistake. The Royal Guard, the body guard of Blueblood, was corrupt! He was the one who was in cahoots with Trixie, allowing her to know when to strike! It was all just a matter of timing and chance!

This new evidence, the gem from the knife, clearly means that there was a guard who had the knife in his possession! The same knife was used to kill Blueblood! It can't be coincidence! The Defense strongly asserts that the accomplice was a corrupt member of the Royal Guard!

So you say a legitimate royal-issue knife would not have snapped? Then...

>>880347
If he truly was one of Blueblood's "Corrupted Royal" guards he would have had no need to forge a copy of a royal service-issue knife. Why didn't he use his normal one, Wright?

There, in fact, was a need to forge a copy, Trixie. Think about it for a moment. If his true knife was found stuck inside the body...

Then suspicion would immediately be cast onto him. This would bring the entire Royal Guard under great scrutiny. That knife would have ties to very important ponies, namely Celestia, and Blueblood.

If he didn't forge the knife, and his real one was used, he would have been instantly found out and linked, meaning he would be jeopardizing the Royal Guard and Celestia. All the suspicion would instantly fall on him, and he would be convicted for this crime.

Now that I think about it, I believe two bodyguards/ Royal Guard members were the true culprits. One of them the murderer who pushed the victim out of the window, the other, the one who hid the dirt. The police rearranging the crime scene? That was one of the Guards appearing to be doing their job. Yes, the police did arrive, but the witness spoke of tampering with the crime scene before the body was moved.

He didn't use his normal one, because he would be nearly instantly found out. Everything would descend into chaos, and the public trust of the Guard would plummet.

OBJECTION!
The Royal Guard is the most suspicious group out of all of our suspects! Remember that it was a body guard that I had cast suspicion onto. The body guard was the closest pony to Blueblood. Recall the gem and the knife. They were rather expensive forgeries for a reason, something that, although it may be hard to believe due to her sense of fashion, Rarity could not afford. After all, she lives in Ponyville, a rural town in Equestria! This points to someone with wealth having the money to forge this, and who else but a member of the guard?

Rarity may live in a rural town in Equestria but her choice of settling down provides no reason why she couldn't have forged that knife. In fact, Trixie thinks it's certain!

Wright, stop embarassing yourself.

All we have is a forged knife, which is in itself a forgery of a Royal Guards knife. It has no official connection.

On top of that, saying that out of all the nobles who live in Canterlot, only the Guards can afford a forgery is just plain ridiculous. Bluebloods such as... well, Blueblood, could have easily afforded to do so.

There is but one logical explanation. There was blackmail. Only blackmail could cause someone as important as the Captain of the Royal Guard to do such a heinous crime. The fact that this was a forgery means that someone was trying to cover up the truth. No one wanted to have the Royal Guard be put under scrutiny, so Shining Armor had faked the murder weapon.

"Why it couldn't have been Rarity"? Prosecutor Trixie, that one is something I thought I've done well of proving yesterday! The spells that were executed on the day of the crime are damn near impossible to do all in succession! Rarity would not have the mental stability and focus to preform all those tasks. She has been known to get extremely, and I mean, extremely emotional over even the littlest of unfortunate events. Sometimes, yes, it was for show, but she is truly a very sensitive pony! Someone like this could not have had the focus and attention to commit a murder and then quickly swap murder weapons! Besides, why would she want to incriminate herself? Why swap the knives at all in the first place, to one that she had been using? A kitchen knife was found inside the dead body, when it was a forged Guard knife that had been the one that caused the wound? Why does this forgery not contain any traces of Rarity, yet the kitchen knife does?

Why? I can tell you why!

Your Honour, this is the odd statement in the Witness' Testimony!
TAKE THAT!
>4) I was doing some late-night training exercises with a squad of Guards.

Mr. Shining Armor, Captain of the Royal Guard, would leave you to believe he was merely just practicing with his guards during the night. Now, that would be a reasonable alibi, if he wasn't the Captain of the Royal Guard! You see, as Captain, he would be one of the first, if not the first to be informed of a crime happening in Equestria. He would normally dispatch guards to deal with a situation, as is what I'm sure is standard procedure. You see though, Mr. Armor testifies as if he never received any information on this murder at the time, which is clearly a contradiction, considering his position!

His alibi is anything but solid, Your Honour! Remember that there had to be a unicorn at the scene strong and talented enough to cast the magical spells that night, and who else but the brother of the Element of Magic, Twilight Sparkle? He is the Captain of the Royal Guard, he has been appointed to such a high role for a very obvious reason, because of his skill. It's clear that such a pony would be capable of these spells. Now I ask, why did Shining Armor not just admit he was informed of the crime, and had gone with his men to deal with the perpetrator?

The answer to that question, is obvious!

Shining Armor had but one reason to avoid admitting his presence at the scene of the crime, because he was the one who tampered with it! Recall Miss Screwloose's testimony! She was the one who helped us to confirm that the crime scene had been tampered with the dead body! He could have just said that he helped escort Miss Rarity away and haul her into detention, but he didn't! For what reason? Because that would directly place him at the scenes of the crime! Undoubtedly, he'd seem much more suspicious if he was confirmed to be at the scene of the crime!

Why the forgery? To hide his tracks! Why play dumb? To shift the blame onto someone else!

FRANZISKA: Can’t get caught? Caught for murder?
SHINING: No! I was there, fine, but I didn’t kill anyone with that knife. I just saw it and started to panic so I got rid of it.
FRANZISKA: You’re a captain of the Royal Guard. You know how this works. I don’t believe you just panicked because you recognised the knife.
SHINING: I swear, it’s the truth. I, I needed to protect both myself and the guard. Murders never happen here in Equestria.
FRANZISKA: So why did you lie about it at first? You could have told us this and you wouldn’t be here.
SHINING: Well, I mean, you’re humans, aren’t you? I thought you wouldn’t have believed me.
FRANZISKA: [Scoffs.] Very well, Shining Armor. One more question; Any idea about who might have done it?
SHINING: No. I don’t know why anyone would do this. There’s no reason, is there? I mean, sure, nopony really liked Blueblood, but I doubt it was something bad enough to kill him.

Shining Armor knows more than he's letting on, Trixie! Think of it for a moment, Trixie! There is no reason for a respected, and esteemed Captain of the Royal Guard to commit such a lowly crime as forging a crime scene. He knew that if it was a forged knife, that it would lead to no direct consequences on him or the Guard. He would have just left it be, and let the police find out who the knife belonged to. But that was a risk he couldn't take. Shining Armor pulled that knife out for a reason, Trixie, and that's because it was his knife!

This knife was a forgery. It was split into two as a result of the fall. A real Guard's knife would not have split into two in such a situation. Shining Armor, owning one of these knives, would know that. So there leaves no excuse! Shining Armor has to have known who the knife belonged to! It couldn't have been a guard's, he would know that! I demand that Shining Armor tells us the whole truth!

There are many things with this situation that aren't clear and don't make sense to us, Trixie. Shining Armor, without a doubt, knows all there is to know about this situation. There is no doubt in my mind that he is the one who had planted Rarity's knife, who had cast the flare spell. The only question left is why would he do all this?

Your Honour, what Trixie just said. If she's planning on pinning the murder on Shining Armor, the Defense strongly insists that Shining Armor is not the murderer. He was merely an accomplice to a murder. As he stated multiple times, he had not killed anyone, and that is true. The evidence itself doesn't point to him being the murderer.

...Very well then, Mr. Wright. It seems that even disbarred, you care about the safety of the innocent. You haven't changed that much at all. Shining Armor shall have his own trial held, for being an accomplice to the murder.

I am ready to announce my verdict.
