Twilight seems uncomfortable with princesshood. Anonymous 444623

If that theme continues throughout the season, they may actually be cleverly setting up for something amazing. Here's my prediction for the season:

1. As the season progresses, a Twilight gets more and more uncomfortable with the "Princess" title.
2. In the finale, her ascension attracts some sort of catastrophe and/or her new responsibilities cause her to crack.
3. Twilight decides princesshood just isn't for her, and uses the destiny spell from MMC to change herself back into regular Twilight.

After this, it can go a few different ways.
4a. Celestia reveals that the whole thing was just another test, to teach Twilight that a good student is willing to question her teacher.
4b. Celestia reveals that the whole thing was just a test, to teach Twilight to be humble enough to say no to responsibilities she doesn't think she can handle, and/or rewards she doesn't think she deserves.
4c. Celestia realizes she was wrong, and has to write a letter about the lesson _she_ learned. "-Dear Princess- To My Faithful Student, Twilight: I learned that whether you're a mother, or just a mother figure, you need to remember that your children have their own goals, and you shouldn't try to force _them_ to follow _your_ passions."
4d. Some combination of the above, such as combining the lessons, or Twilight stating she learned one or both of the lessons, and Celestia responding by talking about her own lesson.

This would be so badass. Especially the penultimate one, because it shows that Celestia isn't infallible, gives a nice "teacher learns from student" moment, and teaches the parents of the target audience for a change. If one of these happens, I'll take back 75-85% of the bad stuff I've said about Twilacorn.

>Twilights grows to hate the title of princess
>finally stands up to Celestia and refuses to perform any royal duties whatsoever
>keeps a list of the royal duties she isn't performing and sends it to Celestia to make sure they still happen of course
>Celestia cannot convince her to rejoin the fold
>Luna tries to perform inception but Twilight realizes what she's up to and rejects the notion even harder
>Finally they call Cadence back from the Crystal Empire
>she meets Twilight in private
>"We didn't want to tell you this so soon, so that you could still have a normal romantic life, but…"
>gives Twilight the key to the royal harem
>…
>THE PRINCESS HAS RETURNED

This wouldn't happen because it's actually a good idea – that's well thought out.

I do expect them to do some deus ex machine to get rid of her princess hood however.

This could make for a pretty cool story, for sure. Princesshood was never something Twilight wanted, it was just pushd onto her out of nowhere with somepony else telling her it is what she was meant to be. Rarity gushing how it's everypony's dream to be a princess and Dash pointing out that actually might not be the case could actually be a setup to something like this, where Twilight starts questioning it all.

However, I'm hesitant to believe this is what happens, and more likely Twiligh will end up getting more and more confident in herself and ends up embracing her princesshood while managing to keep her friendships with the rest going.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'll have to try and not get my hopes up… Damn you, anon, just when I had finally made myself accept that Twilicorn is here to stay and that I can enjoy the season despite that you have to do this and make things harder for me again…

There's also Rainbow Dash saying not everypony wants to be a princess, and Celestia being shown as much more vulnerable.

Yeah, mentioned the Dash thing myself, but was probably a bit unclear about it. Celestia being shown as more vulnerable is a good point. She might have shown some signs of that before, but here it was so much more pronounced. Will have to wait and see, I guess…

Yeah, I realized you'd already mentioned that after I replied.

I do believe she'll get used to being a princess but I don't thinks she's going to turn back. The whole princesshood thing is because Hasbro wants to sell Twilicorn toys. It would be counterproductive for Hasbro to retcon Twilight into a normal unicorn after all the publicity they've given her as a alicorn princess. I do agree that there will be a point in the show where she'll be weighted by the burden of her responsibilities that she'll take drastic measures leading to the creation of something unwanted.

Oh shit!

Anonymous 446729

>>446392
It wouldn't really be a "retcon" any more than her original coronation. And I'm sure they could still sell Twilicorn toys if she changes back at the end of S4. That's still 26 episodes of Twilicorn, or over a quarter of the show's run up to that point. They've sold toys for characters with much less screentime, so I doubt that'd be a problem. I don't see anyone refusing to buy the glimmer wings Rarity toys just because she lost the wings by the end of the episode.

It's not the same to compare Rarity's brief moment to Twilight's. One was for the sake of that specific episode plot and the latter is to completely change the destiny and lifestyle of the show's protagonist with new responsibilities.

Hasbro is not going to let go of Princess Twilight, at least not easily; they might do it if Twilicorn sales tank so bad they realize their mistake but until then, they'll just feed us with Alicorn stuff until it becomes the norm.

>>446428

More on the lines of using dark magic to the point she becomes corrupted or creates a "dark" version of herself and will take every ounce of strength of her and her friends to overcome it.

Anonymous 448427

>>448352
My point still stands. Why would Twilicorn being temporary reduce sales?

Twilight 448509

Ok everyone needs to get all of their nuts in the right place. I don't Know how stupid you people think you are allowed to be but this is were you draw the line. Yes it would be great for Twilight to turn back to normal and all that. But this is the stupidest thing I have ever read. I mean come on did anyone even read this person's post? All of those ideas would be the stupidest plot line ever. It wouldn't be worthy to be on TV let alone be worthy to be on mlp or a season finally. And those lessons are complete bullshit. Not the thing about children sometimes being right and Celestia kind of forcing Twilight to be a princess but everything else. Just get over alicorn Twilight Ok !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You seem to have a case of mad, Alexis. Who are you to tell people what they are or aren't allowed to do or think? No, in fact those wouldn't be the stupidest plots ever, I could come up with a few worse ideas, and there already exists at least one episode in this show which had a "bullshit lesson".

Oh, and if that is the stupidest thing you have ever read you must be new to the internets. If you want to broaden your horizons, may I suggest Youtube comments? And the kind anon already pointed out the multiple exclamation points that make you just look like, frankly, an idiot.

>>446392
Agreed, don't think she is probably turning back. But the idea of her being burdened by her responsibilities is a good one, and makes sense. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see such an episode in the show. "Evil" Twilight is a fun concept and with what magic she has shown so far she could cause lots of chaos, but I doubt she'd go that far. The "alicorn magic" is still a thing, though, and I do hope they do something with it.

I wouldn't rule it out so easily. All the pieces are there, and it's a win-win. The show returns to normal, we get a really cool lesson/character development, and Hasbro can still sell their pretty pretty purple pony princess paraphernalia.

S1 Luna 452459

Meh. At this point, who knows?
Maybe something completely unexpected will happen.
