She explains that all is the cause a chimera known as the lord of chaos, Discord who has been released (by the CMC) from his spell and the only way to stop him is to use the Elements of Harmony. However, they realize that Discord got a hold the Elements and hid them somewhere. Following his riddle, the mane 6 conclude that they're in the maze but Discord managed to corrupt them, breaking their friendship, and thus, their ability to work the elements. It not until Twilight manages to restore her power through regaining her faith reading all of her friendship letters to remember what friendship is all about and purifies her friends that they are able to defeat Discord and save Equestria from a eternety of chaos!
