Any of you guys have similarly weird encounters/get other amazingly weak heckles?

Technically he's correct. Once Sears Roebuck and Co. got the designs mixed up in their catalog and more than a century later nobody's yet bothered to fix it. Thus "boy's" bikes have a more horizontal bar while "girl's" have bars that curves downwards when it should be the other way around.

Of course generally only nerds or hipsters would know that sort of thing.

Technically it is a girl's bike though I'm not sure why.

Men's bikes have a straight crossbar and women's bikes have an angled or curved crossbar.

I have no idea why this is but it seems to not make much sense. The angled crossbar is overall a better design simply because if you hit something and slide forward off the seat, the chances of crushing your crotch on the crossbar seems much less likely on a women's bike.

But yeah, it's a silly thing to be made fun of.

Oh, another tidbit of useless information! I love those. I always wondered why.

Also the boy/girl design has been mostly abandoned for adult-sized bikes now anyway.

I mean really, nobody, male or female wants to mash their squishy bitz on a cross-bar. Really they all should be the "girl" design unless there's some structural need otherwise, like to add structural rigidity to a mountain bike with a soft tail suspension or a carbon-fiber racing bike.

I thought the bikes were designed so girls wont have their skirts flaring up while riding their bike, while boys don't have that problem thus they can have the horizontal bar.

I have found out that I was correct. Horizontal bars make bikes much tougher so it is preferred, but the slanted bar design was used for women's bikes because dresses were very common in the olden days and lifting their legs up too high to mount the bike was unsightly.

Oh but the one reason slanted design makes sense for men is that if you fall down, you won't wreck your dick.

Yes, a horizontal bar is best for dealing with dynamic loads a bike frame will suffer. Bike design isn't exactly my area of expertise though.

As for skirts a short skirt would get caught by the wind anyhow and a long skirt risks getting caught in the chain/sprocket. Suppose that's why the old fixies had guards no them. Never really understood the skirts for girls thing personally. Doesn't seem terribly practical.

When I had a bike and I rode it every where, i would have college faggots roll down their window and yell at me but normally I have my giant fucking headphones on and I JUST barely hear them. sometimes some retards will honk their horn but that's about it.
