Why Fedoras? Anonymous 494411

Fedoras have become a symbol of autism, misogyny and foreveralone virgins. It's like an uniform for bad social skills, yet majority of their wearers claim they just like their style. Do they secretly want to look like the negative stereotypes, or do all socially awkward people just inexplicably share the same fashion ideals?

They only think they like that style.

I couldn't give a fuck if someone wants to wear one. But it's an out-of-date fashion which some just use in an attempt to appear more refined or "classy".

It's like trench coats or really bad heavy coats. Remember when that was all the rage with people who have no idea how to be social.

Somehow it slowly became fedoras. If you are an autistic neckbeard, chances are you will buy a fedora for some fucking reason.

First off ,it's Trilbys. Fedoras actually don't all look terrible. Autismophobes like to talk about fedoras, then only post pictures of trilbys, which do look awful in every situtation.

Secondly, it's probably because of this.

>misogyny
Wut. I've seen plenty of radical lefties and anarcho-tards garner the fedora.

>not aesthetically pleasing
>worn for aesthetic purposes
So you're looking at people who go for style over substance but don't have style.

Maybe they just like a hat and wear it because they don't give a shit.

Nice double dubs. They wear trilbies because they look like fedoras, and fedoras are associated with cool mid-twentieth-century men like pic related, whom they try to emulate and fail miserably in the process.

It's kinda sad because fedoras can look pretty good when they're worn properly with a suit by non-assholes.

> pic related is not wearing a fedora

> pic related is wearing a trilby

The only thing more autistic than wearing a fedora is obsessively splitting hairs over outdated hat terminology.

I was going to post about how I used to be a nerd and want a trench coat when I was younger, but I asked around and apparently absolutely everyone wanted one back then. While I prefer brighter clothes nowadays, there's no denying that long black leather coats look badass.

Badassitude is something that fedoras absolutely do not have. I can see how someone would try to look cool like Snake Plissken, Adam Jensen or someone from The Matrix, but I can't see how anyone thinks they'd look with a dapper little hat.

Part of the trouble in wanting to dress 'badass' is that most people do not look badass when they're dressed badass.

I think the reason is that socially awkward people don't realize that wearing a hat that's supposed to be formal with their cumstained t shirt and shorts looks terrible. A normal person would understand that it doesn't fit with the outfit so you only see the autistic people wearing them. Also they want to look like the guys in the old movies they love.

Fedoras symbolize autism and foreveralone virgins for the reasons >>500722 pointed out. There's a logical connection.

However, fedoras as a symbol for misogyny (i.e. anti-feminism), atheism, etc. is just a negative branding effort. Fedoras are recognized as a symbol of low status, and by attaching that image to "thing I don't like," I can make "thing I don't like" look lower status. After all, if they're low status, who's going to listen to them? You don't even need to refute their arguments...

Of course, "lel fedora" isn't the only status attack. "Feminist --> ugly/fat" is painfully common.
