Counter Strike Thread Anonymous 475577

Does anyone else here enjoy Counter Strike?

Global Offensive
(and Condition Zero, Online, Online 2 if you count them)

I got into Global Offensive recently and it has been a lot of fun.

I like their taste in SMGs

My friend got me into Go.
Pretty gun to play sometimes and just relax.

I like how it's close to real life in that it's not so much guns blazing as it is more about tactics and a low time to kill.
I've been spending time in CS:GO recently training, not to try and get to the level of players like Shox, just so that I can play without being decimated and hone my aim. It's an enjoyable game that's easy to learn, but very hard to master, something I really like about it.

I was addicted to Counterstrike since it's "release" when I was 12-13 or so. I have overwhelming memories of hours upon hours , days upon days spent playing that, Day of Defeat, and any Half Life mod I could find.

My friends and I would alternate upon deaths between it and Starsiege Tribes, other shooters, and Nintendo 64 games like Goldeneye

>I like how it's close to real life in that it's not so much guns blazing as it is more about tactics and a low time to kill.

I like how it seems to do its own approach to being fun and happily loots elements from realism when it serves its purpose but otherwise does as it pleases.

Like you said, tactics, teamwork, knowing when to wait and when to act, are all part of the game.

But at the same time
-all the guns are hitscan weapons,

-most the guns have a predictable spray pattern (with little bit of random spread added to each individual shot) making it possible to control your shots when spraying by learning to compensate for a guns spray pattern

- the game uses a hitpoint system where your fully functional if you have at least 1 hp left and dead the moment you hit 0

None of those 3 things I just mentioned reflect reality, but they are part of the game anyway and, depending on your opinion, may contribute to making it good and/or fun.

>-most the guns have a predictable spray pattern
This is the biggest problem I have with it.

That, and I'm finding it kind of hard to get into. I got CS:S with the Orange Box, and only really had it installed because several source mods used it's resources for gun sounds and other stuff.

Morbus was probably one of the best sourcemods I've ever played. It's like Trouble In Terrorist Town, but with atmosphere, goals, and something to do after you've been taken out.

>Get a bit drunk.
>Thrown into a comp lobby on GO.
>All of them are doing the work for the most part.
>Can't do anything for shit.
>Mainly just tag along with them and buy grenades for the most part.
>Smokes and Flashes.
>Game comes to a tie.

Still had somewhat of a blast, I don't give a fuck.

poni³ 496610

Quite. I am in charge of a CS:GO division of a clan and play it quite regularly.

Anonymous 497166

good... I guess.
I tend to get really frustrated when I play comp and get stuck with someone who is piss drunk, stones out of their mind, or a troll.
Sounds like you were at least trying to help your team though, so thats good.

Whats it called?

I try, people don't seem to realize that there's other things in the game besides AKs, M4s, AWPs, and smokes, etc.

I mean Hell, I'd rather just go run shotties/SMGs and stick with someone if it's CQC. Then I'd have a chance to pick off at least one guy if my team managed to get a few shots on them before getting dunked.

I'm not that bad/long gone into the bottle that I can't simple point and click a nigga' if he's a foot away from me.

UMP-45 is best budget gun.

After playing a few games with it for going Econ and not trying to really push and try to ambush when I can, I have to agree.

I think one match, though causal, I managed to take out two guys trying to camp CT spawn so they could off anyone trying to free hostages. Shit was radical.

Blindsided like a truck hit them.

Many years of my early life were spent playing early Counterstrike versions with my friends. Each time we died we would switch out to play Final Fantasy 9, Mario 64, Turok, or dozens of other rpgs, shooters, etc on those platforms.

In this endless rotation we would beat games, like some sort of Chinese fire drill.

I almost don't want to think back to it. Dem memories too much.
